MP condemns cancellation of Dasara film fest

September 10, 2026

Mysuru: Mysuru-Kodagu MP Yaduveer Wadiyar has condemned the cancellation of Dasara film festival this year.

In a press release, Yaduveer questioned the State Government’s unilateral decision to cancel the event.

Stating that the film festival cancellation was an insult to Kannada film industry, actors, local artistes and cine-goers, the MP said the film fest was an integral part of Dasara for decades.

“Now, the sudden cancellation of the event has come as a bolt from the blue to all those involved in the film industry. The Government’s decision to cancel the event without bothering to consult the industry stakeholders is ridiculous. The film festival was helpful in carrying forward the culture and traditions of the State. But the cancellation shows the lethargic attitude of the Government towards Kannada film industry,” the MP said.
