MP Prasad accuses Siddharamaiah of troubling him in 2017 by-polls

October 27, 2021

Mysore/Mysuru: Contending that he felt deeply pained by the troubles that Siddharamaiah, as the then Chief Minister, gave him in the run up to the by-polls from Nanjangud Assembly segment in 2017, Chamarajanagar BJP MP V. Sreenivasa Prasad lashed out at Opposition Leader Siddharamaiah for his remarks in the ongoing campaign for Sindagi and Hangal Assembly by-polls.

Addressing a press meet at a private hotel here on Monday, Prasad said that he felt ashamed at the speeches being made by Siddharamaiah in poll campaign for Sindagi and Hangal by-polls.

Asserting that he has not yet forgotten how Congress workers distributed money in the presence of Police during the 2017 Nanjangud and Gundlupet by-poll, Prasad said that the Congress then had to borrow its candidate from the JD(S).

Reiterating that the 2017 by-polls was the bitter-most of all the 14 elections he had fought, the MP said that Siddharamaiah was making baseless comments on his opponents out of frustration.

Turning his tirade at JD(S), Prasad said that JD(S) is not a party, but a company, comprising members of H.D. Devegowda family. Questioning H.D. Kumaraswamy whether he had become the CM with his party standing in second place, let alone getting an absolute majority, the MP alleged that JD(S) Supremo H.D. Devegowda will always be busy in working for a hung Assembly, so that the JD(S) can step in to share power with whichever party it aligns.

BJP leaders C. Basavegowda, Shivakumar, Mamballi Nanjundaswamy, Bharath Ramaswamy and others were present at the press meet.
