MP urges EC to monitor political activities at religious places

May 11, 2018

Mysuru: MP Pratap Simha has urged the Election Commission (EC) to monitor and check political activities in places of worship.

Addressing media persons here on Thursday, Simha said he suspected that places of worship could be misused by politicians to lure voters as there is no restriction on gathering of people at religious institutions.

“Let the EC keep a close watch on temples, basadis, stupas, churches and mosques and take necessary measures to check the misuse of religious institutions by politicians,” he said while appealing the EC to videograph the goings on in places of worship to keep a close watch on the activities.
