Mysuru: Betway Mysore Derby-2022 Weekend, the most important racing weekend in the Indian Racing Calendar, will be held on Oct. 29 and 30 at the Mysore Race Club (MRC) Ltd., said Y.B. Ganesh, Chairman and Senior Steward, MRC, at an event held at the MRC Club House last evening.

Pramoda Devi Wadiyar unveiled the Betway Mysore Derby-2022 Trophy and wished good luck to the race horse owners, trainers and jockeys. The draw numbers for Derby contenders were also drawn during the event.

On the occasion, MRC Managing Committee celebrated the birthday of Pramoda Devi by cutting a cake.

Addressing the gathering, MRC Chairman Y.B. Ganesh  briefed about the association between Mysore Race Club Ltd. and Betway Ltd. for the Betway Mysore Derby-2022 (Grade I) Weekend, the Mysore Winter Races 2022-23 and the Mysore Monsoon Season-2023 up to Derby-2023 Weekend.

Stake money

The stake money paid out for the weekend is in the region of almost Rs.2 crore. The total stake money for the Betway Mysore Derby-2022 (Grade 1) is Rs.95 lakh and the winner gets a purse of Rs.54,15,000.

Contest of Skill

The Club would be conducting a Contest of Skill wherein a Renault KWID car will be given as a bumper prize. There will be 3 prizes which would be Bajaj Platina Mobikes and other consolation prizes. All entrants will get a contest form at the entry and those who pay Rs.1,000 and above in the tote will be          entitled for one additional contest form for each such bet.

Top class horses and leading professionals will be participating in the most prestigious weekend in the Indian Racing Calendar.

“This weekend which the entire racing fraternity look forward to greatly year after year could not be held during the last 2 years due to pandemic and the Club is making all efforts to bring back this weekend with its glory as in the past,” said  the MRC Chairman, who extended his best wishes to owners, trainers and jockeys of the Betway Mysore Derby-2022.
