Mridanga Vidwan M.R. Rajappa Memorial Concert from Jan. 27

Mysuru/Mysore: In memory of Asthana Vidwan of Mysore Palace, Mridanga Vidwan M.R. Rajappa, the 10th Annual M.R. Rajappa Memorial Music Concert has been organised at Jaganmohan Palace auditorium from Jan. 27 to Jan. 29.

Vidwan Dr. B.S. Vijayaraghavan will inaugurate the event on Jan. 27 at 5.30 pm. Prof. Bhashyam Swamiji will preside.

Dr. Vasundhara Doraswamy, Prof. K. Ramamurhy Rao, Mridanga Vidwan Sainatha and Rajappa’s son Vid. M.R. Ravindra will be the chief guests. At 6.15 pm, internationally acclaimed violinist Dr. Manjunath and M. Karthik will present a violin concert. The accompanists include Vid. Dr. M.R. Hanumantharaju on mridanga, Vid. M.R.  Chandrashekar on ghata, Vid M.R. Manjunath on khanjira, Vid. M.S. Jayaram on  tabla and Vid. R. Dasappa on morching.

On Jan. 28 at 5.30 pm, music concert by Vidushi Bhargavi Venkataram of Bengaluru has been organised. She will be accompanied by Vid. Dr. Hanumanthraju on mridanga, Vid. M.S. Jayaram on ghata, Vid. M.R. Chandrashekar on tabla, Vid. R. Dasappa on morching and Vid. M.R. Lakshmikanth on Khanjira. Retired High Court Judge Arali Nagaraj, KSRP Commandant R. Janardhan, art patron Dr. Krishnegowda and others will be present.

On Jan. 29, Ranjani and Sruthi Ranjani will present a vocal duet accompanied by Vid. Dr. Hanumantharaju on mridanga, Vid. M.R. Chandrashekar on ghata, Vid. M.R. Srikanta on tabla, Vid. M.R. Lakshmikanth on talavadya and Vid. M.S. Jayaram on Khanjira.

This will be followed by Fusion Music by Sri Saraswathi Vadya Vrunda; percussion by M.R. Rajappa’s children and disciples at 7.15 pm. Shanthaveera Maha Swamiji of Kolada Mutt, Retired High Court Judge Arali Nagaraj and District In-charge Minister V. Somanna will be present.
