MTC Asia Tennis Tour – Women’s Singles: Akanksha clinches title

Akanksha Nitture, playing a confident baseline game, scored a convincing 6-2, 6-2 win over Reshma Maruri in the final and clinched the coveted Women’s Singles title in the MTC Asian Tennis Tour – Women’s $3000 Open Tennis Tournament conducted by Mysore Tennis Club (MTC) at their courts here on Saturday.

Earlier in the semi-finals, Akanksha Nitture scored a easy 6-1, 6-2 win over Sunskrithi Damera to enter the title round, while in contrast Reshma Maruri came back strongly to register a 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 win over Bela Sandeep Thamankar to enter the final.

The prizes to the winners were given away by Pavan Ranga, Industrialist. MTC President Alagappan and other office-bearers of MTC were present on the occasion.

Results

Final: Akanksha Nitture bt Reshma Maruri 6-2, 6-2; Semi-finals: Akanksha Nitture bt Sunskriti Damera 6-1, 6-1; Reshma Maruri bt Bela Sandeep Thamankar 4-6, 6-3, 6-2.
