Mysuru: The Special Court for Elected Representatives has expressed displeasure over the Mysuru Lokayukta’s Investigating Officer seeking more time to submit the final report in the ongoing probe against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, his wife B.M. Parvathi, and others in the alleged Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) land scam.
During a hearing yesterday, Judge Santhosh Gajanan Bhat directed the Investigating Officer (Superintendent of Police T.J. Udesh) to file a comprehensive status report, supported by certified documentation and affidavits, by May 29, 2025. The case, filed under Section 17(A) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, will be taken up on the same day.
Earlier, the Court had asked the Lokayukta to submit its final report on May 7 (yesterday). Udesh told the Court that it still has to investigate three officers, and permission for this has to be granted by State Government.
The controversy revolves around alleged illegal land allotments under the 50:50 scheme by MUDA, in which Siddaramaiah, his wife Parvathi, brother-in-law B.M. Mallikarjunaswamy and land owner J. Devaraju are among the accused.
Earlier, on Apr. 15, the Special Court had stated that a decision on the ‘B Report’ (closure report) against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah would be taken only after the completion of the Lokayukta probe.
Petitioner Snehamayi Krishna submitted a plea before the Court under Section 200 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (Cr.PC), alleging that the investigators were deliberately delaying the submission of the final report in the MUDA case.
“I suspect that the evidence may be tampered with or destroyed. Therefore, I request the Court to consider the submitted report as final, take cognisance of the objections and documents provided by me, allow me to present my arguments and issue appropriate orders,” Snehamayi Krishna stated.
The Court acknowledged the concern and noted that while some sealed documents related to the investigation had been submitted, the request for more time was unsatisfactory.
Krishna further submitted that there was little likelihood of the Lokayukta Police filing a report against accused number one, CM Siddaramaiah, and others who have already been given a clean chit in the interim report.
Krishna requested appropriate orders against the Lokayukta ‘B Report.’ The Court has recorded this request and reiterated that the ‘B Report’ will only be considered once the investigation is fully completed.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has also registered its objection to the closure report in the MUDA case. “On one hand, the Lokayukta has filed a closure report, while on the other hand, it states that the probe has to be continued. Hence, let the investigation be completed,” the Court said. “It is appropriate to consider the objection plea once the investigation is completed,” the Court stated.
