MUDA 50:50 sites row: Sites allotted from 2019 to 2023 face cancellation

August 29, 2026

Mysuru: Urban Development Minister Dr. Yathindra Siddaramaiah has clarified that residential sites allotted under the controversial 50:50 ratio scheme by the erstwhile Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA — now rebranded as Mysuru Development Authority – MDA) between 2019 and 2023 will also be cancelled, leaving no ambiguity.

Speaking to reporters after welcoming Dasara elephants at Mysore Palace yesterday, the Minister said 1,100 sites allotted under the 50:50 ratio scheme had already been cancelled and that the Government was now preparing a list of sites and houses allotted between 2019 and 2023.

“Necessary steps will be taken to annul those allotments as well. In cases where beneficiaries have initiated legal proceedings over the allotted sites, a decision will be taken at the next meeting,” he said.

Dr. Yathindra said the complete cancellation order had already been sent to the MDA and officials were in the process of implementing it. Records of allotments made before 2018 were also being scrutinised and any sites found to have been allotted irregularly would be cancelled, he added.

He said even land-owners, who had surrendered their properties for road projects, had been given compensatory sites, but several irregularities had crept into the process. “That is why we have cancelled everything,” he said in response to a query.
