Warns of imposing cleaning charges on defaulters
Mysore/Mysuru: Following a number of public complaints that bushes, shrubs and weeds that have overgrown in vacant sites are a blot on city’s beauty and also poses a threat to other residents in the vicinity, the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) has decided to impose cleaning charges on the owners of such sites just as the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) has done by collecting cleaning cess.
In a press release, MUDA said that Private Developers or Housing Co-operative Societies, which furnish self-authenticated letters to MUDA twice a year (Jan-Feb and September) on having kept their developed plots/layouts clean, will be exempted from cleaning charges during Revenue Tax computation.
Likewise, owners of the vacant sites in MUDA developed layouts will be exempted from cleaning charges in Revenue Tax payout, if they furnish self-authentication letter, supported by a photograph of the cleaned vacant site.
It has come to MUDA’s notice that several vested interests are creating unnecessary confusion in the minds of vacant site owners about imposition of cleaning charges and as well as its computation. As such, MUDA has sought to bring this measure to the notice of the public.
The MUDA will carry out a survey of cleaned sites, the owners of which have submitted a letter in September last, during which the genuineness of the letters will be checked. Site owners who have defaulted on cleaning will be treated as defaulters and cleaning charges will be added to their Revenue Tax for the next year, the release said.
