Mysuru: The Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) presented Rs. 2.76 crore surplus Budget for the financial year 2017-18.
MUDA Commissioner Dr. M. Mahesh, presenting the Budget, said that MUDA had expected revenue of Rs. 500 crore during the current fiscal and has estimated the expenditure to be Rs. 497.23 crore. He added that the MUDA would be earning revenues through: Allotment of HUDCO Houses (Rs. 35 crore), Rs. 140 crore from allotment of sites at RT Nagar (1,764 sites) and Lalithadripura 1st Stage (545 sites), Rs. 200 crore through auction of corner and intermediate sites, Rs. 1 crore from self residential projects, Rs. 5 crore through auction of MUDA houses, Rs. 30 crore through auction of CA sites, Rs. 5 crore from development and supervision of private layouts, Rs. 30 crore from City Development Planning Department and Rs. 85.35 crore from other sources including rent from commercial buildings, interest of fixed deposits, rent from convention hall among others.
The Budget also highlighted the payments for current fiscal which included Rs. 39.24 crore for development of parks and greenery in city, Rs. 9.2 crore for safeguarding MUDA properties, Rs. 11.8 crore for development of lakes, Rs. 10.50 crore for providing basic facilities coming under MUDA purview among others.
This apart, MUDA also plans to develop Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Road from Ashoka Road (Ballal Circle) to Manandavadi Road, expansion of connecting road between Vivekananda Road and Manandavadi Road and others.
The Authority has reserved Rs. 5 crore for construction of a convention hall at ‘A’ Block in Vijayanagar, 3rd Stage, Rs. 422 crore for houses under Affordable Housing Scheme and Rs. 7.5 crore for survey works. MUDA will construct a total of 1,348 flats, which includes 120 1 BHK, 1168 2 BHK and 60 BHK flats under the scheme.
Budget meeting delayed
The MUDA Budget meeting which was scheduled at 11 am today was delayed by more than an hour as it lacked quorum with only Legislators M.K. Somashekar and K.T. Srikantegowda being present apart from MUDA Chairman D. Dhruvakumar, Commissioner Dr. M. Mahesh other officials.
The meeting began only after other members arrived at MUDA.
