• 85 days to dig records of 56-year-old land case !

Mysuru: The Mysuru Lokayukta Police have just 85 days remaining to submit their investigation report concerning the allotment of 14 MUDA sites to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s wife, B.M. Parvathi. The report is due by December 24, 2024, to the Special Court for Elected Representatives in Bengaluru.

Following the registration of the FIR (11/2024) against CM Siddaramaiah, his wife Parvathi, his brother-in-law B.M. Mallikarjunaswamy, landowner J. Devaraju and others, four investigation teams were formed on Saturday.

This morning, Lokayukta SP T.J. Udesh headed to Bengaluru to meet Lokayukta ADGP Manish Karbekar to provide an update on the ongoing investigation and to receive guidance on the process of issuing notices to the high-profile accused.

Though Sunday saw no activity at the Mysuru Lokayukta office, SP Udesh arrived at the office early today, convening a meeting at 8 am for about 45 minutes with the four heads of the investigation teams: Lokayukta Dy.SP S.K. Malteesh, Chamarajanagar Dy.SP Mathew Thomas, Mysuru Police Inspector Ravi Kumar and Madikeri Police Inspector Lokesh Kumar. Sources confirm that all team heads accompanied SP Udesh to Bengaluru for the meeting.

Notices first to officers?

As of now, there is uncertainty regarding when notices for appearances will be issued to the accused. However, it is likely that the first notices will be sent to both former and current MUDA officials, with the process expected to begin tomorrow.

Facing a tight deadline, the Lokayukta Police have been tasked with investigating alleged offences spanning from 27.10.1968 to 9.11.2023.

In addition to gathering information from MUDA officers and the accused, the teams are required to trace and procure land records dating back to 1935, when Ninga, the original owner of the disputed property in Kesare survey numbers 462, 464, held ownership.

Though Ninga’s son J. Devaraju is one of the accused, the Lokayukta Police must also involve his brothers Mallaiah and Mylaraiah in the investigation.

Mallaiah and Mylaraiah’s families have already appealed to the Mysuru Deputy Commissioner for their share of the property, claiming that Devaraju kept them in the dark when he sold their father Ninga’s land to CM Siddaramaiah’s brother-in-law, B.M. Mallikarjunaswamy.

The Lokayukta Police have just 85 days to gather evidence and unravel the 50-year-old land deal in this complex case.
