After securing bail, he is threatening the complainants, allege cheated customers; Police book 10–15 persons for ransacking bar and restaurant in Srirampura Second Stage

Mysuru: Several people who had pledged their gold valuables with multi-crore gold scam accused Soundar Raj alias Chinnathambi, ransacked the bar and restaurant owned by him at Srirampura second stage in city yesterday.

Earlier, the victims had gone to Kuvempunagar Police station and submitted a memorandum, seeking compensation, by confiscating the assets of Chinnathambi. As the Police failed to soothe the frayed nerves, enraged people ransacked Club 64 Bar and Restaurant, near BEML Layout Arch in Srirampura second stage. They threw away the furniture outside the premises and broke the flower pots demanding justice from the Police. They also vented their anguish by raising slogans against the Police and other departments officers for allegedly shielding him.

One of the victims alleged that, Chinnathambi lured people by offering higher prices for the gold pledged at his Sri Narasimha Jewellery, ATJ Gold, Dhanaganapathi Finance, SDJ Gold and STG Gold, with a common GST number (29AFVPR2377H321). However, the amount got in return was lesser than the market value and several gullible customers were cheated in a similar fashion. Even after repaying the loan amount along with a stipulated rate of interest, the valuables were not returned to the customers. He used to come out with whatsoever reasons before turning away the customers, while some were silenced with the help of rowdy elements, before melting the gold.

Even the Goods and Services Tax (GST) office was approached with a request to look into the complaints of tax related violations, but to no avail, the victims charged.

Despite a case registered at Kuvempunagar Police Station, Chinnathambi has come out of jail on bail and is threatening the complainants.

ACP of Krishnaraja Sub-Division Prakash told Star of Mysore ‘A case has been registered against 10 to 15 persons, for barging into the bar and restaurant and ransacking the premises.’
