Mysuru: The 4th Additional District and Sessions Court has sentenced a man to 10 years rigorous imprisonment after he was found guilty of attempting to murder a man following old enmity.
The accused who is convicted is Babu Thomas, while the victim is Chandrashekar.
On June 14, 2022 at about 10.50 pm, Chandrashekar was standing near Maruthi Circle in N.R. Mohalla, when Babu Thomas, who came to the spot abused him using foul language, assaulted him, made him fall on the road and drove the car over Chandrashekar. When Chandrashekar fell over the bonnet, Babu Thomas dragged him for about 800 metres and made him fall near Ramamandira.
A case was registered at N.R. Police Station and the then Inspector M. Jaikeerthi, who conducted an investigation had submitted a charge sheet to the Court.
Judge H. Anantha, who heard the arguments from both sides, found accused Thomas guilty and sentenced him to 10 years rigorous imprisonment besides imposing a fine of Rs. 50,000. If the convict fails to pay the fine, he has to undergo additional one-year simple imprisonment, the order said.
