December 13, 2021

Mysore/Mysuru: Two persons, who were arrested by Saraswathipuram Police on charges of murdering their co-workers (construction workers) in drunken stupor at a vacant site on Bogadi Main Road on Saturday night, have been remanded to judicial custody yesterday.

On Saturday night, a few labourers had a liquor party at the vacant site where they had pitched a tent and while chatting with each other, wordy duel ensued between them over some issues and in a fit of rage, one of them picked an iron rod and hit Krishna and Ravi of Kothegala village in Hunsur taluk, killing them.

Following the murder, Saraswathipuram Police had taken two accused of the same village into custody for questioning. After interrogation, the accused were produced before a Magistrate, who remanded them to judicial custody yesterday.

The deceased and the accused, who belong to the same village, had come to Mysuru for construction works. They had pitched a tent at a vacant site on Bogadi Main Road and were staying there. On Saturday night, all of them had consumed liquor and were talking with each other when deceased Krishna and Ravi brought forth the family matter, which angered the accused, who picked up an iron rod and hit both of them, killing them on the spot. Saraswathipuram Police had registered a case. DCP (Law and Order) Pradeep Gunti said that it is to be known if both the accused had assaulted the victims or only one of them committed the crime. It is also to be known whether others were involved in the murder and the details will be known only after a thorough investigation.
