Music and dance at Sri Krishna Temple & Alwar Kala Bhavan

Mysuru, Apr. 27- Classical music and dance programmes have been organised at Sri Krishna Temple and  Alwar Kala Bhavan in Gokulam from Apr. 28 to 30.

On Apr.28 (Saturday) at 6 pm, Vidushi Medha Manjunath  will present a classical music concert at Sri Krishna Temple on account of Vaibhava Shayanotsava. She will be accompanied by Vidushi Shruthi on violin and Vid. Pavan on mridanga. The programme is sponsored by Navaratna Jewellery Mart, Mysuru.

On Apr. 29 (Sunday) at 6 pm, classical music will be rendered by Vidushi Aishwarya Srinivas at Alwar Kala Bhavana under the aegis of Sri Krishna Gana Sabha and sponsored by Madhuri Thathachari in association with Kannada and Culture Department, Bengaluru. She will be accompanied by Vid. H.K. Narasimha Murthy  on violin, Vid.Radhesh on mridanga and Vid. M.S.Jayaram on ghata.

On Apr. 30 (Monday) at 6 pm, Senior disciples of Dr. Vasundhara  Doreswamy — Vidu. Deepthi Adishesh, Vidu.Padmashri Kashyap, Vid. S.K.Harishkumar ­— will present a Bharathanatya recital along with Yukta Dayakar, Dyuthi Ramesh, Neha Manjunath, Preethi Manjunath, Chethan and Supraj. The programme is arranged by Sri Krishna Seva Samithi Trust in memory of late Janaki Alwar. The accompanying artistes are Vidu. Spoorty Shenoy (natuvanga), Vidu. Deepti Srinath (vocal), Vid. M.R.Hanumantha Raju (mridanga) and Vid. Rakesh Sudheer (flute).

Profiles of artistes

Medha Manjunath, daughter of R.A. Manjunath and Meera Manjunath, is studying  B.E at NIE-IT. A disciple of Dr. Sukanya Prabhakar, she has been learning Karnatak classical vocal  since 14 years. She is a first rank holder in Karnatak classical vocal Vidwat pre and post exams; Has secured first prize in Nijaguna Foundation State-level competition for classical music -2017;  First prize from Ganabharathi and Shruthimanjari Foundations for devaranama and classical vocal; ‘Sangeet shatranj’ title from NIE; First prize from SJCE for classical music.

Vidu. Aishwarya  Srinivas, after training for over 12 years under Sangeetha Kalanidhi Vidushi D.K. Pattammal and Sangeetha Kala Acharya Vidu. Sulochana Pattabhiraman and later under Sangeetha Kalanidhi R.K.Srikantan and Vid.P.S.Narayan Swamy, she is now mentored by Vid.Sriram Kumar.

She is an expert in Raaga Thana Pallavi, Annamacharya Keerthanas, Swathi Thirunal kritis,  Muthuswamy Dikshitar compositions, Purandara Dasara Kritis, Papanasam Sivam compositions and Bharathiyar songs. She is a Chartered  Accountant rank holder and a B Music holder.

Aishwarya was awarded  “Yuva Kala Bharathi award” for the year 2016 -17 and is a recipient of many prestigious awards. She has recorded albums on Geetha series and is a B high grade artiste of AIR.

Vidushi Deepthi Adishesh is the faculty of VPAC Trust  and she had her Rangapravesha in 2012 at Jaganmohan Palace. She has participated in major roles in her Guru’s choreography  in India and overseas. Her solo presentations have impressed art lovers and critics equally.

Vidu.  Padmashri N. Kashyap,  a Senior disciple of Dr. Vasundhara Doraswamy, completed  her Vidwat with distinction and participated in all major festivals along with her Guru and also presented solo programmes. She had her Rangapravesha in 2015 at J.M. Palace and is pursuing Medicine at JSS Ayurveda College, Mysuru.

S.K. Harish Kumar is one of the senior male disciples of Dr. Vasundhara. He is pursuing M.Sc., in Bio-technology and is also a dance teacher. He has participated in Vasundhara’s choreography and presented solo performance in various sabhas.
