Noted Sugama Sangeetha artiste H.R. Leelavathi will be conferred the prestigious K.S. Narasimhaswamy (KSN) Music Award (Kavya Gayana Prashasthi) for the year 2020, at a programme to take place at Kirurangamandira in Kalamandira premises on Hunsur road here at 5.30 p on Dec. 27.
B.R. Poornima, Commissioner, Department of Archaeology, Museums and Heritage, Mysuru, will present the award to Leelavathi. The award is given by Mandya-based K.S. Narasimhaswamy Trust, in memory of renowned poet KSN of Mysuru Mallige-fame.
S. Rangappa, Director, Kannada and Culture Department, Bengaluru, will be the special invitee. Dr. Nagesh V. Bettakote, Music University Vice-Chancellor and V.N. Mallikarjunaswamy, Joint Director, Kannada and Culture Department, will be the chief guests.
On the occasion, a book brought out by the Trust will be released by retired Kannada Professor and former Principal of St. Philomena’s College Prof. M. Krishnegowda. Writer Dr. Rohini Mohan will be present. The students of H.R. Leelavathi will present KSN Kavya Gayana at the event. Trust President Dr. Narahalli Balasubramanya will preside over the programme, according to a press release.
