Music Concerts at Sri Nadabrahma Sangeetha Sabha from tomorrow

Mysore/Mysuru: Sri Nadabrahma Sangeetha Sabha has organised the following concerts starting from tomorrow at its premises on JLB Road in city:

Dec. 10 (6 pm)

Sri D.V.S. Acharya Memorial Concert sponsored by Leela Acharya — Vidu. M.A. Jyoti will give a vocal concert along with Vid. C.N. Tyagaraju on violin, Vid. Sai Shiva Lakshmi Keshav on mridanga and Vid. Shamith Gowda on ghata.

Jyoti, a strong academician with a Ph.D in Education and a Masters degree in Science, hails from a very traditional musical family. Born to Neeraja Achut Rao, a renowned musician and Achyuta Rao, she is the granddaughter of scholar, composer H. Yoganarasimhan of Mysuru. Jyoti started her musical journey with her mother for vocal. She also learnt violin under Ganesh Pillai and M. Mahadevappa. As she developed interest and progressed in music, she improved her vocal under Dr. Sukanya Prabhakar and Guru  Neela Ramgopal while she improved her violin skills under the legendary Maestro Lalgudi Jayaraman.

She is a B-High Grade artiste of All India Radio (AIR). She has been performing both on violin and vocal in leading Sabhas. She is a Trustee of Devagitham Sabha & teaches both violin and vocal.

Dec. 11 (6 pm)

Rangarajan Iyengar Birthday Remembrance Programme sponsored by Iyengar Brothers, USA — Vid. N. Rajkamal will present a flute concert accompanied by Vid. Mathur R. Srinidhi on violin, Vid. Tumkur B. Ravishankar on mridanga and Vid. Vikram Bharadwaj on morching.

Rajkamal Nagarajan is a renowned flautist who has been performing as a solo artiste for the past 32 years in major festivals and organisations all over India and abroad. He has extensively toured and performed all over the world in countries like USA, UK, Canada, Germany, Poland, Italy, France, Luxembourg, Israel, South America and Singapore. 

He is a proud recipient of ‘Sarabha Sastri’ award from Sri Krishna Gana Sabha, Chennai. He has received several accolades and titles like ‘Ananya Puraskar’ from the Ananya Cultural Academy in Bengaluru, ‘Youth Icon Award’ from Lions Club International and ‘Raga Laya Prabha Award’ from Sri Rama Lalitha Kala Mandir, Bengaluru. 

He has performed with Symphony Orchestra ‘Symphonia Baltica’ of Poland. He has also performed at the prestigious World Music Festival in Israel.

Dec. 12 (6 pm)

Lalitha V. Murthy Birthday Memorial Concert sponsored by Dr. Prathibha, Padma and Monika V. Murthy. A Devotional Music Special by M.R. Sriharsha. He will be accompanied by Shanmukha Sajja on keyboard, Atmaram Nayak on tabla and Vinay Rangdhol on rytham pad.

Shriharsha is a versatile singer. He is the son of G.S. Ravishankar and B.N. Padmavathi, resident of Mysuru. In the initial stage of his music journey, he was trained by Vidu. Rama Gururajachar for nearly five years with a firm foundation and later, since last 16 years, he is under the tutelage of Dr. Vid. R.S. Nandakumar, presently pursuing Vidwat in Karnataka Classical Vocal. He was also the disciple of late Raju Ananthaswamy, the great light music composer and singer and Sunita Chandrakumar, Mysuru. 

A rare talent who is capable of singing 10 forms of music and can play 10 musical instruments. He is the only person to achieve hat-trick win at National-level AIR Music Competitions during 2014, 2015 and 2016 and has been awarded as a Graded artiste of the same. He is also a recipient of grants for convening music programme by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, which was released for his ‘Manaswini’ (A thought respecting women in all walks of life) — a unique Music-Dance-Paint feature. 

He has presented programme at National-level as well as globally and has won innumerable accolades. His popularity rose through his participation in SaReGaMaPa reality show where he emerged as one of the finalists. He is a good dramatist too. He has many varied musical albums to his credit.
