Music teacher sentenced to five years jail under POCSO Act

Mysore/Mysuru: The City’s Special POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Court has sentenced a music teacher to five years imprisonment besides imposing a fine of Rs. 10,000, after he was found guilty of sexually harassing girl students.

The sentenced music teacher is Siddaraju, who was working as a music teacher at the Government School in N.R. Mohalla.

As Siddaraju was sexually harassing the girl students at classes and in the School premises, the School Head Master had lodged a complaint at Mandi Police Station.

Based on the complaint, Mandi Police, who had registered a case, had collected the statements of the girl students and had submitted a charge-sheet to the Court.

Judge B.S. Jayashree, who heard arguments from both sides, found Siddaraju guilty of committing the crime and sentenced him to jail. Public Prosecutor B.C. Shivarudraswamy argued on behalf of the Government.
