Music University to hold its 10th Convocation tomorrow

Mysore/Mysuru: The 10th Annual Convocation of Karnataka State Dr. Gangubai Hangal Music and Performing Arts University will be held at its premises on JLB Road in city on Nov. 8 at 11.30 am.

Governor-Chancellor Thaawarchand Gehlot will preside. Kalamandalam University, Kerala, Vice-Chancellor Prof. B. Ananthakrishnan, will be the chief guest and deliver the Convocation address. Pro-Chancellor and Minister for Higher Education Dr. M.C. Sudhakar will be present. Music University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Nagesh V. Bettakote will present a brief report of the University.

This year the University will be presenting Hon. Doctorates to Theatre Person H. Janardhan (Janni), Music exponent Prof. B.R. Sheshadri Iyengar and Folklorist G.M. Shivaprasad (Gollahalli Shivaprasad).

During the Convocation, seven scholars will receive D.Litt degrees, five students will receive Master’s degree in Performing Arts along with gold medals and cash rewards and three students will receive Bachelor’s degree in Performing Arts along with gold medals and cash rewards.

D. Litt. recipients: Dr. K.V. Nagaraja Murthy, Dr. Shivakumar Kanasogi, Dr. H.K. Sheela Sridhar, Dr. K.M. Kumaraswamy, Dr. Kempegowda, Dr. Rashmi Prasad and Dr. Hasana Raghu.

Master of Performing Arts (MPA): V. Latha (Karnatak Vocal – 5 gold medals), D.N. Indrakumar (Hindustani Vocal Department – 3 gold medals), S. Srikanth (Drama – 1 gold medal), C. Nanjundaswamy (Drama – 1 gold medal) and A. Shravya (Bharatanatyam – 6 gold medals).

Bachelor of Performing Arts (BPA): P. Puneetha (Karnatak Vocal – 4 gold medals), M. Sanjay (Hindustani Vocal – 2 gold medals) and M.B. Sujana (Bharatanatyam – 1 gold medal).
