Special Examination Certificate Distribution Ceremony held
Mysuru: The Chairperson of the Kendra Sangeet Natak Akademi, Dr. Sandhya Purecha, inaugurated the Honorary Doctorate and Special Examination Certificate Distribution Ceremony at Karnataka State Dr. Gangubai Hangal Music and Performing Arts University, Mysuru, at the auditorium inside the University campus.
During the event, rank holders in Bharatanatyam, Kathak, Kuchipudi, Hindustani Music (Vocal and Instrumental) and Karnataka Music (Vocal and Instrumental) were awarded certificates in Junior, Senior and Vidwat examinations conducted by the University.
The distribution took place in a Convocation-style ceremony, recognising the exceptional achievements of the students.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Sandhya Purecha emphasised the vastness of Indian culture and its rich artistic heritage. She highlighted the importance of preserving, nurturing and expanding the reach of traditional art forms, ensuring their accessibility to wider audiences.
She remarked, “Art holds immense significance and there is no art without artistes.”
Chief guest, Prof. Sharanappa V. Halse, Vice-Chancellor of KSOU, spoke about the profound impact of the arts on everyday life.

He commended the University’s dedication to promoting and fostering artistic excellence across Karnataka and beyond. A key moment of the ceremony was the bestowal of the Honorary Doctorate upon Dr. Sandhya Purecha, in recognition of her outstanding contributions to the field of performing arts.
The event commenced with an introductory address by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Nagesh V. Bettakote. Registrar (Evaluation) Dr. M.G. Manjunath, presided.
The ceremony was a significant step in honouring both eminent artistes and the next generation of performers, reinforcing the University’s commitment to the preservation and advancement of India’s artistic legacy.
