Mysuru: Muslim brethren celebrated Shab-e-Baraath in city on Saturday by offering namaz at various Masjids, illuminated to mark the occasion.
Special lectures were delivered on the “Importance of Shab-e-Baraath.” After namaz, the members visited the Khabarasthan to offer floral tribute to their departed souls and prayed for peace.
Tahafuz -e-Khabarasthan Committee had made elaborate arrangements in the Khabarasthan with lightings and clean roads.
Former Minister and MLA Tanveer Sait also joined the Members of Tahafuz-e-Khabarasthan Committee at 1 am after visiting the samadhis of his late father former Minister Azeez Sait and his late mother Zubeda Bai and offered floral tribute.
On the occasion, Tanveer Sait inaugurated the lighting facility installed in the Khabarasthan at an estimated cost of Rs. 20 lakh at 7.30 pm on Saturday. Yaqoob Shariff, President, Mahmood Ali Khan, Secretary of Tahafuz-e-Khabarasthan Committee, Dada Peer Sayeed of Shabnum Function Hall, Suhail Baig, former Corporator and Member of Karnataka State Haj Committee, Syed Yunus and Alhaj Rafeeq Ahmed Khan, all Members of Tahafuz-e-Khabarasthan Committee and Ariff A. Mehkri, Chairman, Mysore District Wakq Advisory Committee, were present.
