Mysuru: Alleging that the Election Officer has deliberately rejected nomination papers of some members who wanted to contest in the election of The Muslim Co-operative Bank on Sayyaji Rao Road to be held on Feb. 3, a member of the bank, has lodged a complaint at Mandi Police Station on Sunday.
Shafiulla Baig is the person, who has lodged the complaint. In his complaint, he has stated that during the scrutiny of nomination papers held on Sunday, the Returning Officer rejected some nomination papers and has also appointed retired official Srinivasamurthy for the election process. Baig has urged for the removal the two officials from the election duty.
In a letter addressed to Jyothi Urs, Assistant Registrar of Co-operative Societies who is also the Returning Officer, the contestants, whose nomination papers were rejected yesterday have stated that Jyothi Urs had rejected the nomination papers citing that these members were absent for the Annual General Body Meeting and had not conducted minimum transaction in the bank, which was against the rules.
They have alleged that though the present Directors had not attended the meetings nor conducted minimum transactions in the bank, their nomination papers have been accepted after collecting their details, which is also against the rules.
Alleging further, they have stated that one Srinivasamurthy, who had retired from service 4-5 years ago has been appointed for election duty and have urged the Election Commission to look into the issue.
Meanwhile, Mandi Police said that they have received the complaint and have given a NCR. They further said that they (Police) have collected information from Jyothi Urs, who said that the election process was being held as per the rules and Srinivasamurthy has been taken to assist in the election.
The Police said that they have asked for information in writing and further action would be taken after receiving the same.
Meanwhile, the members of the bank, whose nomination papers have been rejected, have decided to knock the doors of the Court.
