Mysore/Mysuru: MyGreen-22, the flagship environmental event of the Builders’ Association of India (BAI), Mysore Centre and Mysore Builders’ Charitable Trust (MBCT), began at Nanjaraja Bahadur Choultry this morning. The expo, organised as part of World Environment Month, is open between 10 am and 9 pm today and tomorrow. Entry is free.
Formally opening the expo, Sam Cherian, Managing Director of Schevaran Laboratories, said that it is important to conserve nature for future generations and the beginning must be made now, using eco-friendly products that are on display at the exhibition.
Complimenting BAI for organising such exhibitions every year, he said that BAI is striving to drive home the point that initiatives can begin at home starting from the use of green materials while constructing houses and building complexes.
There are over 15 stalls selling various environment-friendly products like interlock tiles made from discarded single-use plastics, indoor flowering and fruiting plants, M-sand, organic manure manufacturing, homemade toilet-cleaning agents and waste management products and innovative technologies that help homes to emit less carbon.
Main objective of the exhibition is to create awareness among the citizens of Mysuru and motivate them to adapt to a more environment-friendly lifestyle. The expo showcases eco-friendly building construction technology, handicrafts, organic food millets, vegetables and greens, seeds and plant nurseries.
BAI Mysore Centre Chairman-Elect Nagaraj V. Bairy, BAI Mysore Centre Chairman R. Raghunath and other office-bearers of BAI A.S. Yoganarasimha and Venkatesh Prasad were present during the inaugural.
