M.R. Dhanusha, the 19-year-old Heptathlete from University of Mysore (UoM), is the only girl who is qualified to represent India at the 30th Summer Universiade World Athletic Championships-2019 scheduled to be held in Napoli, Italy, between July 3 and 14.
For her participation in the Meet, Dhanusha had to remit Rs.2.26 lakh and under the instructions of the UoM VC Prof. G. Hemantha Kumar, the Varsity has paid the required amount to the organisers. This has now enabled Dhanusha to take part in the Meet.
Dhanusha, a first year BBA student at Basudeva Somani FGC, is the daughter of autorickshaw driver Manju and Rukmini from K.R. Nagar of Mysuru.
This gesture by the UoM in encouraging the athlete will also inspire other sports persons to touch greater heights in different sporting disciplines.
