Mysore Varsity Convocation-2018: Here’s how you apply for Degree Certificate

Mysuru:  The 98th Annual Convocation of the University of Mysore (UoM) will be held in January or February 2018 and the dates will be announced soon.

In a press release, the UoM Registrar has stated that admission to convocation is open to candidates for post-graduate degrees, doctorate degrees and winners of medals and prizes of all degrees.

Candidates for degrees such as B.Ed., LL.B., B.P.Ed., etc. are not considered as candidates for post-graduate degrees since they are basic degrees in the respective specialisation and admission to the convocation in their cases is restricted only to those candidates who have bagged medals and prizes.

Candidates may obtain their degrees either in person or in absentia by applying in the prescribed form issued by the Registrar (Evaluation) or by obtaining forms from the colleges where they studied or by obtaining from the University during office hours.

Certificates to the candidates who apply in absentia will be sent to them directly through registered post or speed post after the convocation. Candidates who have passed degree examinations with the ‘class declaration’ in the final year/ semester marks card at the examinations held during September-October 2016 and May-June 2017 are eligible to apply to obtain the degree in this convocation.

Candidates who have passed their degree examinations held during September- October 2017 are not eligible for obtaining their degrees at this convocation except for B.Ed. degree examinations.

Fee for obtaining degree certificates are as follows:

For general candidates, it is Rs. 2,200 for a Ph.D certificate and for SC/ST candidate, it is Rs. 990. For post-graduate degree, LLB and B.Ed, a general candidate must pay Rs. 1,600 and for SC/ST candidates, it is Rs. 745. For other degrees, a general candidate must pay Rs. 1,200 while an SC/ST candidate must pay Rs. 540.

Those who have paid the convocation fee at the time of final examinations need not pay again. Candidates belonging to SC/ST communities must enclose a photostat copy of the caste certificate issued by the competent authority in their applications. The fee has to be remitted to the ‘Examination Account,’ University of Mysore or DD drawn in favour of The Finance Officer, University of Mysore.

Duly filled in applications along with the challan, DD and photostat copies of final year marks cards (not consolidated marks cards) should be sent to the Registrar (Evaluation)before Jan. 16 and with a fine of Rs. 100 before Jan. 20.
