May 7, 2017

Mysuru: Mystery shrouds the death of a newly wed couple at second phase, JSS Layout in city this morning. The deceased couple have been identified as Ashalatha and Veeresh.

While Veeresh, a native of Chitradurga, was working as a Health Inspector at Kupya in Mysuru taluk, Ashalatha, a native of Bhadravathi in Shivamogga district was a home-maker.

The couple got married in Chitradurga only last month (April 14, 2017) and stayed at a rented accommodation in JSS layout, second phase here.

Veeresh is said to have called his relative Rajesh at about 9 am today to inform about the suicide of his wife Ashalatha. But by the time, Rajesh could arrive at the couple’s residence, Veeresh is said to have ended his life by hanging self from the ceiling of a room, after locking the house.

The Mysuru South Police who rushed to the spot, could see only the body of Veeresh hanging. But there was no trace of Ashalatha’s body. As the parents of Veeresh and Ashalatha had appealed the Police not to break open the door, the Mysuru South Police were waiting for their arrival, when we went to the press.

In another incident, a Kerala-based cook ended his life by hanging self at his residence at Preeti layout in Lingambudhipalya this morning.
