Mysuru-Bengaluru Expressway NH-275: Last-mile works on Mysuru side begins

February 7, 2023

Mysore/Mysuru: The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has taken up the last-mile works on the Mysuru side of the 10-lane Mysuru-Bengaluru Access-Controlled Expressway (NH-275). The works were pending even though the rest of the Highway and bypasses have been completed and have been opened for traffic.

Works are under brisk pace to meet the February-end deadline and at present, the focus of the works are Siddalingapura and Kalasthawadi. There is an old bridge near Kalasthawadi that is being demolished and will be rebuilt after altering the alignment. The earlier bridge was narrow and congested and when it rained heavily, water used to enter the nearby houses.

According to the officers from the NHAI, the water flowing under the bridge will be diverted so that there is no problem either to the houses or to the Highway even if it rains heavily. “We are using technology to build concrete blocks under the bridge to divert the water. The old bridge was not in a position to withstand the pressure and as such, we decided on the alignment change,” officers said.

The concept of alignment change has been successfully implemented at many places on the Expressway and here too, the same technology is being used. The diverted water from the bridge will join a duct that is further down the Expressway, officials explained. “As the Expressway comprises six-lane and four service roads, we had to extend the bridge to accommodate the road structure. The work will be completed in another 20 to 25 days,” officers added.

The second part of the work is to build a retaining wall to a canal at Siddalingapura. This particular canal carries water from the Krishna Raja Sagar (KRS) Dam to the fields in and around Siddalingapura. “Here too, there is a need for a wider space to accommodate the road and the service roads. The retaining wall will prevent water from entering the Expressway,” the officers explained.

Meanwhile, reports from Bengaluru say that the 117-km Expressway developed under the Union Government’s flagship Bharatmala Pariyojana, will be officially inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the first week of March.

With most portions of the Expressway open for vehicular traffic, the opening of the Mandya and Srirangapatna bypasses recently marked the completion of the project. The NHAI expanded National Highway 275, including the Expressway, to a 10-lane road. The Expressway, from the NICE Road entrance in Bengaluru to Ring Road junction in Mysuru, is expected to cut travel time from an average of three hours to just 90 minutes.

Mysuru-Kodagu MP Pratap Simha said it will be officially inaugurated in March first week by PM Modi. Most parts of the stretch are already open and vehicles, including KSRTC buses that are taking close to two hours between  the two cities.

It will be a tolled road but the quantum of toll has not been fixed yet though the NHAI has announced earlier that the first phase of the toll collection will begin by Feb. 15 on the Bengaluru-Nidaghatta stretch.

Even if it is named with some name nobody is going to call by that name.It can be simply Mysore-Bengaluru Express way.It is sheer waste of public money in painting, putting name board, conducting functions, creation of new contraversies.

So, the works on this Tipu Sultan Expresswayare still pending while reading this:
“The works were pending even though the rest of the Highway and bypasses have been completed and have been opened for traffic.

Typical Indian project, half complete, and the above sounds like a weak spot waiting for accidents to happen, as the bridge s constructed these days in India do not last, as they simply crumble.
Keep boasting about this Expressway, as gangs of thieves hired by crime barons steal angle plates from the poles, and they will next carry awy the so called AI-directed sensors that idiot MP Simha prattled, the same w ay the carried away the control panels in a section of a road in Mysore, plunging that road again in darkness.
While Narendra Modi, inaugurates, boasting about Tech India bull shit, nearby a section of rail track is kept wide open and train stopping on the next track, means people will climb down, stand on the open track and get mowed down by thundering Malgudi Express, the gift of RK Narayan!
    Jai Hind!!

  3. K Sridhar says:

Along with the construction of the Bangalore-Mysore expressway, the govt must also take up construction of a flyover at the Manipal hospital junction. As this junction/signal is a choke point affecting the flow of traffic, especially during holidays, a flyover at this junction will ensure that traffic will move smoothly and avoid congestion.

  4. Marigowda Ramanna says:

    Hey @Sridhar
You must be really dull not to expect choke points all along this Expressway, from by passes when car-loving Indians rush to join the straight traffic, at Toll gates where your fellow Indians manning the toll gates demand cash to let you go through even after paying the toll, You are left behind as the VIP cars are rushed in front of you etc.. etc..
This is India after 75 years of independence. Modi is going top tell you soon, after hiding the fact that China in a recent skirmish at Himachal Pradesh have occupied more Indian territories!

  5. Natesh says:

In highways…also some puncher points or some workshops also should be there..if vehical breaksdown in the middle..we will be helpless

  6. Santhosh says:

“Mysuru-Kodagu MP Pratap Simha said it will be officially inaugurated in March first week by PM Modi.”
Just few days back Nitin Gadkari said the highway would be inaugurated by PM in February.
Prior to this, Pratap Simha said it would be completed by Dasara 2022, later it was extended to January.
I remember few years back when the idea of converting the highway into 6 lane was first mooted, it was said that by 2018 itself the work would be completed.

  7. C S Ramakrishnan says:

Flyover to be constructed from kengeri bus terminal to Nice road junction. Off course can reach mysore in 90 minutes, but reaching Nice road junction from kengeri and Nice road junction to kengeri, need minimum 40 minutes time.

  8. Shivanna says:

From Bengaluru city to reach RRHospital fly over is time-consuming state govt should give a proposal to solve this by arranging two fly overs from RRHospital fly over to connect vehicles moving to wards west of Bengaluru & towards East of Bengaluru to avoid passing through Kengeri ( they should had one more by pass at kengeri)
