Grand procession attracts hundreds of devotees

Mysuru: A grand procession, marking the 95th Sri Chamundeshwari and Sri Mariyamma’s annual Mysuru Karaga Mahotsava being organised by Sri Renukadevi Karaga Devastana Trust, Ittigegud, was taken out on the thoroughfares of the city yesterday.

The Karaga Mahotsava, which began on May 8, will conclude tomorrow with the immersion of Karagas at Paschimavahini at 5 am.

Yesterday, the procession, which was accompanied by various folk troupes, began from the Temple premises on Manasara Road at 8 pm and passed through the City Palace Office, Chamaraja Double Road, N.S. Road, Vinoba Road, Shivarampet, Sayyaji Rao Road, Mission Hospital Road, Kabir Road, K.T. Street, Irwin Road, Kurubageri, Kumbarageri, Ashoka Road, Nazarbad, Zoo Road and returned to the Temple at 9 am today.

Today, Karaga Mahotsava will be held on various streets in Ittigegud followed by Mangalarathi at 12 midnight. The Karaga will be immersed at Paschimavahini tomorrow at 5 am, which marks the conclusion of the Mahotsava.
