Six candidates withdraw papers on Apr. 8; Papers  of four others rejected during scrutiny

Mysore/Mysuru: A total of six candidates have withdrawn their nomination papers on Apr. 8, the last date for withdrawal of nominations, with 18 candidates remaining in the fray from Mysuru-Kodagu Lok Sabha (LS) Constituency, that is among 14 seats in the State going into elections in the first phase scheduled to be held on Apr. 26.

The candidates who withdrew their nomination papers are: R. Mahesh, S. Doreswamy, Rajanna, Shivananjaiah, Srinivas Bogadi and Sanna Nayaka, who had filed papers as independents.

Prominent among the candidates who have remained in the fray are Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar of BJP and M. Lakshmana of Congress.

A total of 28 candidates had filed their nominations, but the papers of four candidates had been rejected during the scrutiny, while six candidates withdrew their papers.

While in Mandya Lok Sabha Constituency, a total of 14 candidates are in the fray including former Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy of JD(S) and Venkataramane Gowda (Star Chandru) of Congress.

In Chamarajanagar (SC Reserved), a total of 14 candidates are in the fray, including former MLA S. Balraj from BJP and Sunil Bose of Congress.

At Hassan, a total of 15 candidates are in the fray, with sitting JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna seeking re-election, while Shreyas Patel of Congress party is making his political debut.
