Countdown begins
The countdown to the second Mysuru Literary Fest-2018 organised by Mysore Literary Association (MLA) has begun with the Fest being held on Aug.12 at Senate Bhavan in Manasagangothri campus.
Star of Mysore is profiling some of the leading names in various fields who are the panellists participating in the day-long session.
The first two panellists, who are being featured today (Aug.8), are former National Record holder in Relay Race Arjun Devaiah and well-known sports journalist Vedam Jaishankar. Both will participate in a panel discussion on sports titled “Are we a sporting nation?” moderated by academician Dr. H.S. Shivanna.
Arjun Devaiah (International Athlete, Motivational Speaker)
Arjun Devaiah is a former National Record holder in 4 X 100 Meters and 4 X 400 Meters Relay Race. He is the only person in the Indian sports history to hold both these records simultaneously at the same time.
A sprinter who made his presence felt in the international sports scene by securing Gold Medal in the South Asian Games, Malaysian International meet and in Singapore International Meet, he also won Silver Medal in Asian Athletics. An international sports personality and former National Champion in 200 Meters and 400 meters track events, Arjun Devaiah is an inspirational figure.
Vedam Jaishankar (Senior Journalist, Author)
Vedam Jaishankar is a senior journalist with rich experience in print and broadcast journalism. His prime passion is cricket and he has covered the game in all the six continents for major newspaper organisations including The Times of India, The Indian Express and Deccan Herald.
He has held leadership positions in these organisations besides launching The Vijay Times for the VRL Group. His articles have appeared in numerous magazines, including British cricket magazine SPIN and Wisden.
Vedam Jaishankar is a noted columnist with Firstpost, India’s largest and most diverse news portal.
He has written two best-selling books — Rahul Dravid – A Biography and Casting A Spell – The Story of Karnataka Cricket — with the biography of Rahul Dravid going through numerous re-prints and translation into regional languages. His third book is expected to hit the stands soon.
Columnist, author, speaker and award-winning journalist, Vedam Jaishankar is a Visiting Faculty at the National School of Journalism and appears regularly on television talk shows.
