Mysuru Police plan measures to curb accidents on Ring Road

February 4, 2018

Mysuru: Concerned over frequent accidents on the Ring Road, the City Police to enforce certain measures to bring down the number of accidents in the future. The Police action comes in the wake of a horrific car accident last week where three young lives were snuffed out on the Ring Road near KEB Circle, Dattagalli.

Among the measures are installations of signal lights so that the vehicles are forced to go slow. Deputy Commissioner (Crime and Traffic) Dr. Vikram V. Amathe has sought a report on the number of accidents and their cause along the ORR stretch, especially near Dattagalli junction to make the road safe and free of accidents.

Accordingly, Krishnaraja Traffic Inspector Harish Kumar will submit a report to the DCP on last week’s accident and the accidents that have occurred in the last three years.

Speaking to Star of Mysore, Harish Kumar said that last week’s accident was due to the negligence of the driver and comes under ‘self accident category’.

“The person at the wheels on that day was rash and was proceeding on the road at a speed of 150 kms per hour. That is a smooth stretch and as such the driver lost control over the vehicle and it hit a road divider and crash-landed on the road after the car was thrown over 8-ft above,” he said.

Continuing, he said that he will mention in his report about the need of a traffic signal near the accident spot. “In the last three years there has been only one death and two injuries at the spot though the accident rate on the entire Ring Road stretch is high,” Harish Kumar said.

In order to prevent vehicles from speeding, zig-zags have been set up on the Ring Road near Rajarajeshwarinagar, Bogadi stretch, RMP Colony, Mahamane Circle and Malegara Maramma Circle.

“We will look into setting-up of more zig-zags on the stretch,” he added.

WHATEVER YOU DO TO LOWER THE VEHICLE SPEED, YOU WILL NOT GET THE DESIRED RESULT. YOU HAVE TO STOP CORRUPTION AT RTO AND GIVE COMPLETE TRAINING OF MORAL AND ETHICAL VALUES AND ALSO VEHICLE DRIVING LESSONS BY RTO STAFF AND WHILE TESTING TESTS SHOULD BE DONE PROPERLY FOR ALL DRIVING LICENSE APPLICANTS.
NOW A DAYS DRIVING LICENSE IS ISSUED WITHOUT PROPER TRAINING AND TESTING.
