Mysuru Railway Malayali Samithi’s Onam get-together today, tomorrow

Mysore/Mysuru: Railway Malayali Samithi, Mysuru, an association of Keralites working in Railways and residing at Mysuru, has organised various programmes as part of Onam Get-together-2022 at Kerala Samajam Cultural Centre in Vijayanagar today and tomorrow.

On Nov. 5, Pookalam Competition will be held from 5.30 pm and family entertainment programmes will follow from 7 pm onwards.

On Nov. 6, cultural programmes will begin at 9.30 am and Kerala traditional lunch ‘sadya’ will be served from 12 noon to 2 pm. Inaugural meeting will begin at 2 pm and awards will be distributed to students, who have excelled in 10th and PUC (both CBSE and State syllabus separately). The winners of awards for meritorious service, will also be felicitated.

After the inaugural meeting, cultural programme will continue and will conclude with prize distribution for the winners of various competitions conducted as part of the celebration.

Samithi Secretary V.R. Harikrishnan will welcome the gathering. Former President K.K. Pavithran will deliver Memorial Speech. President C. Ranjith will preside. Former Secretary V.D. Anilkumar will also address the gathering. Joint Secretary T.C. Sreenath will propose a vote of thanks.

Railway Malayali Samithi was established and registered with Registrar of Welfare Association, Karnataka State, in 1989 and is one of the oldest Malayali association in Mysuru. The Samithi has  more than 300 members and it undertakes social, cultural, welfare and charity activities to help the weak, poor and the downtrodden.

Every year, the Samithi organises a get-together where all family members gather to witness various cultural programmes along with Kerala feast. During the celebrations, various competitions like drawing competition, Pookalam competition, sports and games are conducted for the members and their families. This year, the programme began on Oct. 16 and concludes tomorrow (Nov. 6).
