Mysuru SP inaugurates Young Indians Parliament

Mysuru: The two- day Young Indians Parliament (YIP 2026), organised by Young Indians (Yi), Mysuru, an initiative of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), one of its flagship national initiatives aimed at nurturing responsible, informed and future-ready leaders through experiential parliamentary learning, was inaugurated by Mysuru SP Mallikarjun Baladandi here on Friday in the presence of Young Indians members, school principals, teachers, jury members and student delegates.  

The Chapter Round witnessed enthusiastic participation of over 150 students from 13 leading schools across Mysuru, who came together to experience democracy through structured parliamentary debates, discussions, policy-making and legislative simulations.  

The participating schools included Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, DAV Public School, Excel Public School, Geetha Bharathi School of Excellence, JSS Public School, Mahajana Public School, Manasarowar Pushkarini Vidyashrama, NPS International School, Pragathi Elite Public School, Rotary School, Nanjangud, Sri Sharada Public School, St. Joseph’s Central School and Orchid Public School. 

Addressing the gathering, Mallikarjun Baladandi appreciated Young Indians for creating a platform that introduces students to the values of democracy, responsible citizenship and leadership at a young age.  

He encouraged the participants to develop the habit of informed thinking, disciplined dialogue, respect for diverse opinions and active civic participation, emphasising that India’s future depends on well-informed, ethical and responsible youth. 

Speaking on the occasion, Priyanka Sridhar, Chair, Young Indians Mysuru, highlighted that Young Indians Parliament is much more than a competition — it is a platform that nurtures leadership, confidence, critical thinking, constitutional awareness, and public speaking among students.  

She said Yi Mysuru is hosting not only the Chapter Round but also the Regional Round, reflecting the chapter’s growing strength, capability, and commitment towards youth leadership and nation-building. 

The event witnessed remarkable enthusiasm from the student delegates, whose confidence, preparation, and passion transformed the simulated parliamentary proceedings into a vibrant exchange of ideas.  

The competition was evaluated by an eminent jury comprising Advocate Lokesh, Advocate Jagadeesh, Advocate Sushmitha and Advocate Monish, who assessed the participants on their parliamentary conduct, communication skills, content, leadership qualities and overall effectiveness in debate. 

The inaugural session was attended by Charan Kashyap, Chair – Thalir Vertical; N. Sukrutha, Co-Chair – Thalir Vertical and B.G. Amruth, Chair – Innovation Vertical, Young  Indians Mysuru.  

The proceedings were moderated by Maria Andrews and Raksha. The valedictory session will be held later today.
