Mysuru to host All India Folk and Tribal Art Festival

Mysuru/Mysore:A three-day Akhila Bharata Janapada mattu Budakattu Kale Utsava (All India Folk and Tribal Art Festival) will be held at Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) premises in city from Mar.13 to 15.

Festival Convenor K. Vasanth Kumar said that the Festival is organised under the joint aegis of Akhila Bharata Janapada mattu Budakattu Kala Parishat, Karnataka Sahasa Kala Academy, KSOU, Karnataka Folklore University in Haveri and Union Ministry of Tribal Affairs.

A total of 300 artistes, over 60 experts from 18 States are expected to participate in the Festival which is aimed at introducing folk and tribal art to the future generation and conserving the art, he said. 

Tribal Welfare Minister Arjun Munda has been invited to participate in the Festival, said Vasanth Kumar adding that performing arts and exhibition will be the major attraction.

The Festival focuses on encouraging local participants. Artistes from Mysuru, Mandya, Kodagu and Chamarajanagar may take part. For details, contact Mob: 97315-95692.
