Mysuru Veteran TT players excel in State Ranking Tournament

August 5, 2019

Mysuru players performed well in the State Ranking Veteran Table Tennis (TT) Tournament conducted by the Ping Pong Players of Hassan and the Hassan Club under the auspices of KVTTC in Hassan recently.

In Men’s 60+ Group, A.V. Nagaraj (Mysuru) clinched the title by beating M.N. Raghavendra, also from Mysuru in final. Nagaraj controlled Raghavendra’s defensive strokes well and his effective BH did the rest for him.

In 75+ Group, K.V. Krishnamurthy’s FH and BH guiles gave him only one game against the consistent Udayshankar from Bengaluru who added one more title to his name this year.

Women 60+, Sushila Devi Pillay of Mysuru won her first Runner-Up prize of her 4-year TT career. Lathika Poosalingham, who had won an international title in Sri Lanka some time back, was stretched to the fence at 11-9 in the final fifth game by Sushila. Interestingly, Sushila had tied with two other players, Gayathri and Poornima, in the league but Sushila pipped others in the final score analysis.

It was one of the Ranking TT Tournaments of KVTTC conducted by a district. Apart from trophies and cash prizes, the players got one-and-a-half time the ranking points compared to Bengaluru events given by KVTTC to promote Vet TT in districts.
