Mysore Mohan & Orchestra to perform in city after two decades!
Mysuru: Mysore Mohan & Orchestra are back in city after more than two decades to entertain the audience. The three brothers, who started their career in Mysuru about 40 years back, will be performing on the inaugural day of the 10-day Mysuru Winter Festival-2017 starting from tomorrow (Dec. 23) at 7 pm.
The Mysuru Brothers Mohan, Sudarshan and Gopi will be performing alongside eminent musicians and singers including Nanditha, Divya Raghavan, Anuradha Bhat, Ajay Warrier, Vyasaraj Sosale, Chinmay Aathre among others at the Palace premises tomorrow evening.
Mohan, the eldest of the three siblings, is known for his melodious compositions. He has composed music for numerous Kannada films and is a maverick musician who is adept in numerous musical instruments.
Sudarshan, a well-known guitarist, has been a regular feature for eminent musicians like late C. Aswath, late Raju Ananthaswamy, Dr. S.P. Balasubramaniam and many other personalities.
Gopi, a supremely talented bass guitarist, has worked with the legendary music composer and lyricist Hamsalekha for over 20 years. He has been an accompanying guitarist to many stalwarts in the industry.
Mysore Mohan & Orchestra during their heydays in the 70s, 80s and 90s have performed with matinee idol Dr. Rajkumar in over 100 concerts throughout the country and were synonymous with music performances and entertainment before the emergence of digital era.
Tomorrow’s winter concert will be a rare opportunity for music aficionados to relive the glory days of Kannada music before of the majestic Mysore Palace.
This will be followed by a melange of cultural extravaganza at the Palace premises till the New Year’s eve. Below is the list of cultural programmes:
Dec.24: ‘SaReGaMaPa Saurabha’ featuring singer Sriharsha of Zee Kannada-fame – 7 pm to 9 pm.
Dec.25: Musical evening by singer Rajesh Krishnan and troupe – 7 pm to 9 pm.
Dec.26: Music and dance performances by artistes of South Zone Cultural Centre, Thanjavur – 6 pm to 7 pm. ‘Gaanayana’ by Sunitha Chandrakumar and Raghuleela Sangeetha Mandira – 7 pm to 9 pm.
Dec.27: Bhavageethe, Vachana, Dasarapada and Folk Songs by Puttur Narasimha Nayak – 7 pm to 9 pm.
Dec.31: Police Band on New Year’s eve followed by display of fireworks by Mysore Palace Board – 7 pm to 9 pm.
Jan.1, 2018: Valedictory of Flower Show and illumination of Mysore Palace on the New Year’s Day – 7 pm to 9 pm.
Display of Dolls
Various traditional dolls depicting Vishnu’s Dashavathara, Satyam Shivam Sundaram, Festivals, Nava Shakti or Navadurge, Samudra Manthana dolls will be on display at the Dolls Show to be held at Bombe Mane in the Palace premises.
Children’s Festival
The District Administration has also organised Children’s Festival which will include folk performances like Karaga, Kamsale, Nagari, drawing and painting competition, fancy dress competition, traditional wrestling for 10 pair of children, display of spinning wheel, potter wheel, making of different animal, birds and butterfly mask and origami for more than 250 children from various schools.
