Mysuru youth drowns in Thonnur Lake

Body yet to be traced

Pandavapura: A 19-year-old youth, who had gone to Thonnur Lake in Pandavapura taluk of Mandya district, was drowned in the lake yesterday. The deceased is Mohammed Sanjeem, son of Mohammed Zakir Hussain, a resident of Mysuru.

Sanjeem, along with four of his friends, had gone to Thonnur Lake, a tourist spot. It is learnt that he got drowned when he went for a swim last evening.

Fire & Emergency Services and Police personnel, who rushed to the spot on receiving information, began an operation to trace the body and had to stop the operation as it got dark.

The search operation resumed this morning and efforts were being made to trace the body, when we went to the Press at 12.30 pm. A case has been registered at Pandavapura Police Station.
