Mysuru Zoo to host special lecture on Birds and Butterflies on Jan. 26

Mysuru/Mysore: Butterflies and Birds are important components of a food chain, as predators and prey. Adult butterflies and caterpillars are an important source of food for other animals such as bats and birds. Birds help maintain sustainable population levels of their prey and predator species. There is a need to understand the need for birds, butterflies and their conservation. The best ways to approach the above issues is open and transparent discussion with researchers and conservators.

With this background, Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens (Mysuru Zoo) has invited forests guards Mahaveer and Anand from Belagavi forest divisions to share their views on butterflies and, B. Sahana to share her experiences on “Birds of Mysuru,” at an event to be held on Jan. 26 at 10 am at Zoo auditorium.

Interested persons may register their names free of cost at: zoomysore@gmail.com or  over Mob: 96866-68099 before Jan. 26, according to a press release from the Zoo Executive Director.
