Sets 3 national records in Equipped Powerlifting

Mysuru: Mysuru’s woman powerlifter Alifiya Vagh excelled in the recently held Classic and Equipped Master’s National Powerlifting Championship – 2026, organised jointly organised by Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar District Powerlifting Association and Maharashtra State Powerlifting Association under the aegis of PowerLifting India, held at Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar in Maharashtra recently. Alifiya Vagh won two classic and four equipped gold medals in the Master 2 (50-59 age group) 84 kg category.

In the Equipped Powerlifting, Alifiya set national records in squat with a total lift of 160 kg, Bench Press (total lift of 80 kg) and Deadlift (total lift of 172.5 kg). She also won the overall gold medal for the total lift of 412.5 kg and a new national record.

Meanwhile, in the Classic Powerlifting, Alifiya won gold in Squat (total lift of 147.5 kg) and Deadlift (total lift of 170 kg).

Alifiya Vagh is coached in powerlifting by world championship gold medallist Sujay Janardhan of Redcage in Bengaluru and trains under Chandan of Rawbrick in Mysuru.
