Condemning the attitude of Central and State BJP leaders and the false propaganda being spread by them, N.R. Block Congress leaders held ‘Satyameva Jayate’ rally on Jodi Tenginamara road in Bannimantap yesterday.

AICC Observer Kusum Kumar, who spoke after inaugurating the rally, said the rally has been organised under instructions from AICC Vice-President Rahul Gandhi.

Alleging that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been functioning as a dictator, Kumar said demonetisation had badly hurt the country’s economy.

Taking a jibe at Modi for his failure to unearth black money, he said that the people will give a fitting reply to the Prime Minister in the 2019 general elections.

Primary and Secondary Education Minister Tanveer Sait, in his address, said that although he was a hardcore Congressman, he welcomed Modi’s ban on high currency notes. However the demonetisation has turned out to be a bane for the people as no proper preparations were made.

Highlighting the development works being undertaken in N.R. Constituency which he represents, Sait said 1,351 houses have been built and Rs. 20 crore has been spent on Masjids and construction of walls around burial grounds. He added that there was a proposal before the Government for setting up a Government Engineering College at a cost of Rs. 48 crore at a location falling under N.R. Constituency.

Former Mayor Asif Hussain in his address, lashed out at Prime Minister Modi for hiking LPG prices.

Terming the Government decision to impose a penalty of Rs. 150 for each transaction made after 4 transactions in a month, Hussain said the move was going to badly hit the common man.

He also took a jibe at former CM and State BJP Chief B.S. Yeddyurappa for announcing that he will send Siddharamaiah to jail once the BJP comes to power in the State.

Abdul Khader Shahid took over as Azeez Sait Block Congress President on the occasion.

City Congress President T.S. Ravishankar, former Corporator Syed Akram, former ZAK Chairperson Rehana Banu and others were present at the rally.
