State Executive Meet of Congress Seva Dal begins

Mysuru: The day-long State Executive Committee meeting of Congress Seva Dal began at the Congress Bhavan near the City Railway Station here this morning.

Addressing the Seva Dal office-bearers on the occasion, State Congress Seva Dal President S. Pyaari Jaan said that following directions from Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, the Seva Dal has launched a vigorous membership drive in the backdrop of the defeat in the LS Polls.

Pointing out that the Seva Dal forms the backbone of the Congress, she highlighted the activities launched by the Seva Dal for enrolling new members focusing on youth.

Stating that the Seva Dal has issued a directive for hoisting the flag at Congress offices every Sunday, she underlined the need for strengthening the party right from the grassroot level and at all other levels as well.

Explaining the role of booth and block level workers in organising the party, Pyaari Jaan said that the ‘Young Brigade’ launched by Rahul Gandhi was getting good response from the public.

Calling upon Congress leaders not to neglect the Seva Dal, she said that the main agenda of the meeting was to discuss ways and methods for intensifying the party’s membership drive at all levels of the organisational set up.

Earlier, Mayor Pushpalatha Jagannath unfurled the flag to mark the inauguration of the meet.

City Congress President R. Murthy and District President Dr. B.J. Vijay Kumar too spoke.

Seva Dal office-bearers Upendra Dhoole, Gopalegowda, Sujatha Ullal, Vishwanath, Lalitha, Shankaramurthy and others were present.
