Nachappa threatens to stage protest against KSTRI Director

February 17, 2020

Mysore/Mysuru: Accusing KSTRI (Karnataka State Tribal Research Institute) Director T.T. Basavanagouda of sabotaging the Genealogical Studies being carried out to include Kodavas in the list of ST (Scheduled Tribe) communities, CNC President N.U. Nachappa has threatened to stage a massive stir against the KSTRI Director if he continues to derail the studies, which is being conducted based on Socio-Economic issues.

Addressing a press meet at Pathrakarthara Bhavan this morning, Nachappa alleged that Basavanagouda was making efforts to thwart the studies and the issue has been brought to the notice of Mysuru-Kodagu MP Pratap Simha.

Pointing out that as per a UGC guideline, a Director of the Institute can remain in office for five years, Nachappa wondered how the incumbent Director has managed to remain in office for the past nine years.

Asking the Director to stop politics on the issue, Nachappa demanded ST status for Kodava community.
