Mysuru: Nadavidyalaya Academy of Music & Dance has been successfully providing the platform for the upcoming budding artistes in the field of music through the monthly concerts.

In accordance with this, the eight monthly musical concert was held on Dec.24 at the Academy premises where Sinchana Sandeep and Moulya Venkatesh, senior disciples of guru Vid. M.S. Naveen, presented the ‘Maarga Sangeetha.’ They were accompanied by Vid. Dasappa on mridanga and Vid. Chetan on violin.

Moulya Venkatesh, the daughter of Dr. T. Venkatesh and Anitha K. Pand, is currently pursuing her 2nd PU in Marimalappa’s College, Mysuru. Sinchana Sandeep, wife of Sandeep, is working as a Sanskrit faculty at Adichunchanagiri School.

The duo began the musical evening with the Atta Taala Varna “Veeriboni” in Bhairavi raga which is the composition of Pachimeeri Adi Appaiyer. It was then followed by invocation of Vighnanivaraka Lord Ganapati’s kruti “Vaatapi” in Hamsadhwani raga set to Aditala composed by Muthuswami Dikshitar wherein the ragaalapane and kalpanaswara was beautifully done by Moulya.

Sinchana praised the Goddess Saraswathi who is the Goddess of art, knowledge, music, wisdom and learning through Saint Kanakadasa’s kruti “Varavakodu yenage vagdevi” in Tillang raga and Aditaala. It was then followed by the vilambakala kruti “Marubalka” in raga Shriranjani set to Aditaala a composition of saint Tyagaraja.

Saint Tyagaraja’s compositions are mainly devotional or philosophical in nature. His devotion towards Lord Rama is reflected in his compositions, musings, narratives or messages to the society. One of his rear gem compositions is “Vasudevayani,” a praising of Lord Vishnu which was devotionally sung by the duo in Mechu kalyani raga set to Aditaala wherein the ragaalapane and kalpanaswara were by Sinchana.

One of the profound compositions of Mysore Vasudevacharya is the vilambakaala kruti – “Ra ra rajivalochana” on Lord Rama which was wonderfully rendered by the duo. It was then proceeded by the kruti “Shrimannarayana” which enthralled the audience by the bhakti filled in it and was sung in Bhouli raga and Aditaala, a composition of Annamacharya.

The duo then continued the concert with the javali “Virahataapa” in Desh raga set to Mishrachapu taala a composition of Narahari Achar. It was then followed by the rhythmic piece of music – Tillana, a splendid composition of King Swatitirunal in raga Dhanashri set to Aditaala.

The music concert was concluded by the mangalam in Kalyani raga and Trishra Ejka taala a composition of Bhadrachala Ramadaasa which ended the concert auspiciously.

Moulya and Sinchana enthralled the rasikas who witnessed the Naadasanje with their soulful voices in  their renditions.

These monthly chamber concerts are a stepping stone to many of the enthusiastic talents like Moulya and Sinchana in the field of music to showcase their talents and Nadavidyalaya has been providing great opportunities in dance and music fields for such emerging artistes.
