Nanjangud: Chief Minister Siddharamaiah will inaugurate the newly-constructed Mini Vidhana Soudha in the town at 1.30 pm tomorrow (Jan.11).
The new Mini Vidhana Soudha, which has come up on Nanjangud-Ooty Road in three acre area, is constructed by Bengaluru based R.N.R. construction company at a cost of Rs. 12 crore. The new building will house almost all Government offices in the town.
The Mini Vidhana Soudha, which was first sanctioned by the then Chief Minister R. Gundu Rao in 1982, was inaugurated a couple of years later by the then Chief Minister Ramakrishna Hegde, who headed the first Janata party government in the State. The Mini Vidhana Soudha then had come up beside the TB on Chamarajanagar bypass road. But as a result of poor quality construction, the structure totally collapsed in 2007, following which former Ministers D.T. Jayakumar and M. Mahadev (Benki Mahadev) made efforts to construct a new one, but in vain.
Now, the present Government sanctioned funds for the new one, following which the sprawling new Mini Vidhana Soudha has come up on Nanjangud-Ooty Road, which will be inaugurated by CM Siddharamaiah tomorrow.
