Nanjangud: The famed Srikanteshwara Temple at Nanjangud, which is known as the Dakshina Kashi, has recorded a hundi collection of Rs. 1.52 crore in a specific period. The counting of 30 hundis of the temple was taken up on Nov. 5, during which Rs. 1,52,75,136 cash, 167-gm gold, 9.15-kg silver jewelleries and articles, 64 foreign currency notes and 7 notes of banned Rs. 1,000 and 46 notes of banned Rs. 500 denomination currency were found.
The temple staff and members of Women Self Help Groups (SHG) undertook the counting in the presence of Bank of Baroda Manager T.K. Nayak and staff and other Government officials, who included Mysuru Assistant Commissioner Kamalabai, Accounts Officer Gurumallaiah and Chamundeshwari Hill Temple AEO Dinesh.
