Nartana Namana: Mohiniyattam at Ganabharathi on Aug. 17

Mysore/Mysuru: Ganabharathi in association with Raasavrunda School of Dance, Mysuru, will present a classical dance repertoire in Mohiniyattam as part of Nartana Namana in memory of late Dr. Kudli Ramashastry on Aug.17 at 6.30 pm at Veene Seshanna Bhavana, Kuvempunagar.

Dance Direction is by Kalamandalam Suchithra Anil Kumar, Director of Natyakuteera. The performing artistes of Natyakuteera are Sreya Sunil, Arya K.P., Malavya Eruvankai, S. Devanandana, Diksha Pream and Mayukha S. Nair.

 About the Director: Kalamandalam Suchithra Anil Kumar is a distinguished Indian classical dancer, choreographer and teacher, celebrated for her mastery in Bharatanatyam, Kuchipudi and Mohiniyattam.  At a tender age she was trained under the late Kalalaya Kumaran. 

She continued her training in Kerala Kalamandalam, India’s premier Institute for Mohiniyattam and Kathakali. She was trained under eminent gurus Kalamandalam Padmini, Kalamandalam Leelamma, Kalamandalam Hymavathy, Kalamandalam Lathika,  and Kalamandalam Pushpalatha.  

Suchithra is the Founder of Natyakuteera School of Classical Dance in Mysuru and has guided over 30 students through their Arangetram. Suchithra, who has performed in the International Drama Festival at Changhua in Taiwan, has displayed her skills in the Nisagandhi Festival, Kerala, Performances at Chennai, prestigious Dasara Festival at Mysore Palace and many other platforms in South India. 

She has won several awards — Vallathol Puraskaram for poetry from Kerala Kalamandalam, Natanapraveena Award from Guru Gopinath Trust, Kottayam, Gurudeva Puraskara from Kalaimandalam Thriprayar, Thrissur.
