Mysuru: The following have been elected as the office-bearers of The National Association for the Blind (NAB), Yadavagiri in the elections held at the Association’s Annual General Body Meeting recently; Alok Kshirsagar – President, Dr. N. Ramesh – Vice-President, Vinay N. Kumar – Treasurer, R. Muniraju – Joint Secretary, Jayaprakash Shetty – Governing Council Member and A. Srinivas – Regional Manager.
The Association, with its headquarters in Bengaluru, after setting up the unit in Mysuru, has been rendering services to both visually challenged and hearing impaired persons and has received Best Institution-2017 award from Government of Karnataka.
Established in 1977, the National Association for the Blind, Bengaluru, has been serving the visually challenged to enable them to live their lives confidently and independently with training programmes including mobility, computer knowledge and other skills. In Mysuru, one-year training programme was started in 1987 for visually challenged and hearing impaired men and women after receiving financial aid from the State Government and has been the only centre run by the Karnataka Government.
The Association, under the leadership of Dr. N. Ramesh and the Regional Manager, is currently involved in various activities in Mysuru, Chamarajanagar, Kodagu, Hassan and Mandya districts.
