National Basketball Championship: Punjab, Indian Railways emerge champions

Punjab and Indian Railways were respectively crowned the men’s and women’s champions of the 70th Senior National Basketball Championship held in Ludhiana recently.

In the men’s section, Punjab beat Tamil Nadu 93-75 in the final to clinch the title. Arshpreet Singh Bhullar scored 33 points for the winner.

In the women’s section, Indian Railways team led by Mysuru’s basketball player P.U. Navaneetha, beat Kerala 68-55 in the final to clinch the title. Navaneetha (13 points), Shruthy Aravind (16) and Shireen Limaye (15) were the scorers for Indian Railways.

Karnataka women finished fifth while the men’s team settled for the sixth place.
