National Conference of Paediatric Infectious Diseases held

Mysuru: The Inaugural Ceremony of the 20th National Conference of Paediatric Infectious Diseases was held at the JSS University premises at Sri Rajendra Auditorium, Shivarathreeshwara Nagar, Mysuru, in the gracious presence of Suttur Seer Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji recently.

The function was presided by Dr. Ashok Rai, Chairman, Indian Paediatric Academy-Infectious Diseases Chapter (IAP-IDC). The chief guest of the programme was Dr. B. Suresh, Vice-Chancellor, JSS University.

Guests of honour were Dr. Santosh T. Soans, President-Elect of Central IAP-2017 and Dr Shyam Kukreja, Chairman-Elect IAP- IDC-2017.

Programme commenced with the invoking of the Lord’s blessings. Dr. D. Narayanappa, Organising Chairman, delivered the welcome note.

In his inaugural address, Dr. B. Suresh stressed on the increasing need for research and innovation to fight the challenges plaguing the country today.

Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji impressed on the need for rational use of antibiotics to combat the emerging resistance. He placed the onus on the care givers to ensure safe and responsible use of antibiotics.

The annual report of IAP-IDC was presented at the ceremony by Dr. Vasant Khalatkar, Secretary, IAP-IDC.

The past Chairpersons of IAP- Infectious Diseases Chapter were felicitated on this occasion. Dr Shyam Kukreja, Chairman-elect, IAP-IDC 2017 was welcomed by the paediatric community. Dr. Santosh T. Soans, President-Elect, CIAP-2017, released the E-souvenirs of Conference and spoke words of encouragement for the success of the event.

The event was organised under the leadership of Dr. D. Narayanappa, Organising Chairman and Dr. S.N. Prashanth, Organising Secretary, with the support of IAP Mysuru Chapter.
