National IP Yatra workshop held

‘India must tap its potential and unexploited powers of innovation to emerge as global leader in creation of intellect’

Mysore/Mysuru: The two-day National IP Yatra Workshop, organised by Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM), in association with the Ministry of MSME, Government of India, witnessed active participation from entrepreneurs, innovators, MSMEs and other key stakeholders, reflecting strong interest in strengthening India’s intellectual property ecosystem.

Maroti Dube, Assistant Director, MSME-DFO, Bengaluru, Government of India, spoke on the benefits of the MSME Innovative Scheme along with other important initiatives of the Ministry. He felt that the Ministry was being proactive in hand-holding MSMEs to develop, protect and commercialise their innovations through increased IP filings.

The session also had a keynote address by Siddarth Karkhanis, Head of Intellectual Property, Bosch India, where he underscored Bosch’s flagship open innovation initiative called “DNA Nxt.”

He highlighted how the initiative uses open innovation to deliver on impact at scale by fostering collaboration between industry, start-ups, academia and innovators across the country. Karkhanis emphasised the need for such enabling platforms in translating innovative ideas into scalable solutions which accord with the growth aspirations of the country.

Bhaskar Kalale, President, TiE-Mysuru, shared insights on the vibrant innovation ecosystem nurtured by TiE-Mysuru. He complimented the Ministry of MSME for its pivotal role in enabling initiatives such as the National IP Yatra, which play a crucial role in nurturing innovation at the grassroots level.

Strengthening the discussion further, Vijaykumar Shivpuje, Advisor, ASSOCHAM IP Facilitation Centre (IPFC), elaborated on the role of Intellectual Property Rights as a crucial accelerator for growth and making the MSME sector more competitive.

He concluded by advocating that India tap its potential & unexploited powers of innovation to emerge as a global leader in innovation and creation of intellect.
